There is a eight-pageght menu item names displayed across the top of your computer screen on our website: HOME, NEWS, CALENDAR, PROGRAMS, PHOTOS, VCAA, COUNCIL, and ABOUT US. A click on a menu item directs your browser to display that page or link. Pages are displayed in your browser's main window, while inks will appear under a separate browser tab.
Computer devices with smaller screens, like smartphones and tablets, handle their menus differently. An icon made up of three short horizontal lines appears at the top of their screens, which displays the menu of page names. Each page or link is described below.
The HOME Page is where you land when you send your internet browser to herndonseniorcenter.org. It contains things of immediate interest and suggestions of other pages and/or external links where you may find them.
The NEWS Page contains the Center's monthly "NCan You can Use" and other items thought to be of interest to our members. In addition, a link is provided to the Fairfax County Golden Gazette, a monthly publication for older adults.
The CALENDAR Page displays a calendar of programs and a daily meals menu. The Calendar is displayed two pages(i.e.one week) at a time, which allows it to be printed to produce a booklet. Just download the Calendar and print it in landscape mode. Additionally, for devices like smartphones with small displays we have provided a way to view the Calendar one page at a time. Just click the NEWSLETTER button following the two-page version of the Calendar.
The PROGRAMS menu item links your browser to the Neighborhood and Community Services (NCS) website page for the Herndon Community Center. NCS is the Fairfax County agency containing all county senior centers, including the Herndon Senior Center.
The PHOTOS page currently contains a few videos and many photos. The photos are an archive from over the past ten years.
The VCAA page links you to the home page of the Virtual Center for Active Adults. Here you can find resources for online activities. Depending on the internet browser you are using, it may not be intuitive for you to return to the Herndon Senior Center (HSC) page. For browsers that support tabs, the VCAA page will open in a tab adjacent to the HSC one.
The Council Page presents photos of the Council's directors as well as its Bylaws and Articles of Incorporation. The HSC Council, Inc. is a 501 (C)(3) nonprofit organization, making all donations to the HSC federal income tax-deductible.
The ABOUT US Page contains a list of HSC staff, membership information, and location information including a map and driving directions. and a list of frequently asked questions and answers.
